If you’re looking for a new indie band to brighten up your world, then you’ve come to the right place.
Introducing: ISLAND, a four-piece band made up of Rollo Doherty (vocals, guitar), James Wolfe (bass guitar), Jack Raeder (guitar), and Toby Richards (drums).
Slowly but surely, ISLAND have risen through the ranks with their chilled yet hypnotic tracks. The group released their debut EP late last year, comprising of four tracks. Lead single ‘Stargazer’ ended up at number 7 on the Spotify worldwide viral charts, clocking up 1.3 million streams in the process.
Their latest offering is a double-A side single. Made up of ‘Spotless Mind’ and ‘Come With Me’, ISLAND have delivered a blistering single which showcases two sides to their music and will no doubt allow them to continue their steady and momentous ascent.
‘Spotless Mind’ is a soothing track which truly kicks in during the chorus. The song explores ‘what if?’ scenarios, with the chorus exclaiming ‘What if I never asked you your name?’ As stated in an interview, ISLAND’s intention with ‘Spotless Mind’ is to question: “would we feel as lonely without finding love in the first place?” The track is not only about love, it applies to friends and even enemies.
On the other hand, ‘Come With Me’ is an entrancing offering, and a testament to their unswerving ability to write what feels right. The relatable subject matter and immersive ambience make it something that speaks to everyone. The dreamy track perfectly balances with ‘Spotless Mind’, creating an ideal double-A side to listen to over the last few days of summer.
The band has garnered impressive online support, as well as backing from the press and Radio 1. As well as incredible online traction, fans from across the globe have been flocking to their shows too. In April, they performed a show in Oslo which was sold out two months in advance. Over the summer they added British Summer Time Hyde Park and Secret Garden Party to their gig roster.
Alongside their latest double-A single, ISLAND have announced a huge headline show at Scala, London. They will be performing on November 2, with limited tickets still available here.
It is evident that ISLAND’s hard work is starting to pay off. By writing and playing great songs, they are standing out from the crowd by simply being them. We’re certain that they are destined for even greater things.
